About the Brand
The DKNY brand - or Donna Karan New York - is named after its creator. The Donna Karan New York Collection was launched in 1985, followed by DKNY "Street Inspired" in 1989. Little by little, lines of cosmetics, home furnishings as well as menswear, jeans and childrenswear lines were developed. The DKNY brand cultivates a very urban mindset with a New York vibe. Soon after, Maxwell followed Dao to Miami and they opened a shop together. In 2008, they decided to launch their own mens ready-to-wear line, Public School. The success was phenominal. In 2010, they took advantage of the CFDA mentorship program, American Federation of fashion headed by Anna Wintour and Diane Von Furstenberg. In 2013, NY Public School won the Swarovski award for emerging brand and the same year, won the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund. The two friends charmed with their wardrobe made entirely in New York.
