Olympia Le Tan
About the Brand
“You can’t judge a book by its cover…” Olympia Le Tan launched her eponymous label in 2009. Through her creations, she brilliantly combines her two greatest passions which are embroidery and literature, inherited from her father, the illustrator Pierre Le Tan. Her inimitable evening bags are like old books and quickly proved successful. Handmade with love in France, the bags are distributed in only 80 outlets across the world. Born on October 16, the designer has made this day her lucky number. Thus, each clutch bag is printed in 16 copies and wears an embroidered number.
After spending her childhood between London and Paris, Olympia Le Tan was trained at Chanel alongside Karl Lagerfeld and at Balmain with Gilles Dufour. Passionate about old books, she decided to launch her own brand of bags. Nostalgic of the fifties, she imagined a bag collection with a divinely retro look. In 2012, Olympia Le Tan expanded to the magical world with a new line of Ready-to-wear that shows every season in Paris.
Spring/Summer 2016 Collection
"This Winter, Olympia Le-Tan was inspired by childhood and Japan. Her collection of ""Down in the Hole"" accessories borrowed from the extraordinary world of Alice in Wonderland while her ""sentimental journey"" celebrates the land of the rising sun, from Hello Kitty the character Araki. True to her mischievous wit and whimsical universe, Olympia le Tan creates luxurious and playful minaudières. Still in limited and numbered editions, the precious minaudières are hand embroidered and lined in Harris tweed, in tribute to the British childhood of the designer.
