About the Furla brand
In 1927, in the refined city of Bologna began the story of the Furla family business. Its protagonists, Aldo Furlanetto and Margherita, aimed to set up a company whose goal was to gain a worldwide reputation for the quality of its leather.
The company aims to provide women with all types of leather goods or accessories that they could desire. In the 1970s, the first collection of travel bags was launched. With their avant-garde style, they introduced unusual methods of production and atypical materials, such as nylon and rubber. These choices would be rapidly successful.
The collections have grown at the same time as the company. Furla invented a new luxury concept, close to every woman; it immediately became a must-have: high quality, clean lines and functionality are the distinguishing features of the Furla fashion house.
Furla is a family brand. Giovanna Furlanetto, daughter of the founder, is now at the head of the company.
Since the 70's, with her brothers Carlo and Paolo, Giovanna Furlanetto took over from her father Aldo. Combining visionary creativity and entrepreneurship, she has put the Furla brand at the top. Its continuous policy of innovation as well as the constant development of new products and the use of new materials, are the results of her many exciting trips.
The success is such that it received the coveted title of ambassadress of the world economy in 2008, delivered by the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna.
In 2000 her love for contemporary art led her to develop the Furla prize for Art, in collaboration with the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice. The award is unique. The winners are contemporary Italian artists who obtain the support of the fashion house.
The dynamism of the fashion house has brought her recognition and prestige inside the cultural circle. She also created the Furla Foundation, an institution that ensures the continuity of projects and allows the further development and strengthening of international cooperation.
This collection, the Furla woman will be an explorer. Special attention is paid to every detail. This collection is inspired by the bags and luggage of the first great explorers of the 20th century. We find sets of overlay and illusion.
The inspiration seems to be transported by a delicious blend of iconographic reflection of complex images that seem to belong to magical and surreal worlds. These influences have given birth to a unique collection.
