About the brand
In 2001, the Ginette brand was born. The creator is none other than Frédérique Dessemond. A series of t-shirts and silkscreen print bags (personal paintings and photos) were marketed for the first time in the streets of Soho and soon in Nolita stores in 2002.
In October 2002, the first piece of jewelry a reinterpreted timeless medallion was created. Ginette NY gave medallions a facelift. The designer always makes sure each piece is customized. In September 2003, the jewelry lines, bags, alpaca accessories and silk garments were presented in the Protégé Contest for a fashion show of designers and agents in New York. The brand won the competition. International orders started to come in from all over the world.
The period 2003/2004 was particularly successful, encouraged by articles in W accessories, W jewelry and W magazine. 2004 marked the beginning of collaboration with Fiftytwo showroom, an exclusive showroom in New York.
In order to manage the creation and production, only the jewelry collections (Ginette NY) and the bags are represented at the : Designer and Agents of New York and Los Angeles shows, and then rapidly sold in the United States.
In 2005 the jewellery and the history of the Ginette NY house attracted the Frojo house in Marseilles. A collection of pink gold jewellery was launched in France for Mother's Day in 2005.
Frédérique Dessemond, originally from Marseille, moved to New York many years ago.
Frederique studied History of Art in Aix-en Provence and then went to the Sorbonne in Paris. History and theory satisfied her intellectually but the desire to create was greater. A real passion. She has been painting since her childhood. Even today a few nights a year she gives way to artistic experimentation. She had the privilege of meeting the great painter Jean-Paul Clerens. It was the tips and secrets shared with him during a week in his studio in Saint-Tropez that would lead her to want to exhibit.. Since this time Frédérique regularly exhibits her art work in Marseille, Paris or New York.
She also enjoys interior decorating. She reworks poor furniture (recovery and processing of factory furniture) to give it a second life, with patina and handmade dyes. A lot of old whites and greys, neutral tints and purity of volume.
In 1999, she left Marseille for New York. New York was already one of her scheduled destinations for her creative energy, for the pleasure, beauty and urban inspiration found there. A young stylist from Marseille, Joelle Klein, who was living in New York, offered her some help by working alongside. This was a wonderful meeting, a beautiful friendship and an opportunity to stay in New York... and settle down professionally.
In 2000 she became assistant designer to a young New York designer, Paige Novick. Working with her was very rewarding for the young Frenchwoman.
The collection by Paige Novick FROU was presented at the Gemart Contest. This was a great achievement, rewarded with an official parade in the main tent of Bryan Park during Fashion Week.
In 2001, she decided to branch off on her own and created the Ginette brand.
Fall Winter 2014 Collection
Ginette NY surprises us with this Fall-Winter 2014 collection by combining their minimal chic style with new materials. The brand works with refined monogram and ceramics, and is inspired by the 1960s and 1970s. On the other hand, the diamond is in the limelight for more luxurious versions of the flagship models by Ginette NY.
