About the Missoni brand

Related to aesthetic innovation and the invention of techniques that have changed the very identity of knitting forever, Missoni fashion house is one of the best known in the world. Its designers are among the most popular fashion. The House has won numerous awards over the years.

Missoni style reflects the success of this company, with a successful collaboration between husband and wife. After their marriage in 1953, Tai and Rosita have decided to launch a knitwear company, a company that would become the symbol of Italian fashion in the mid-sixties.

Missoni has successfully invented a new way of dressing and living: the mix of bold colours to the concept of zigzags, stripes, and even the patchwork of jacquards with geometric and floral prints.

In 1969, Diana Vreeland, the fashion editor of the famous American Vogue, describes their techniques as "ingenious". Her comment: "Who says that there are only the colours, there are various shades, too." In an article published in a daily newspaper in 1979, the Italian journalist Maria Pezzi set their clothes as "museum pieces that can still be worn". The history of Missoni has since been marked by a plethora of compliments.

Vittorio, Luca and Angela came to expand the family. Since childhood they are in close contact with the work of their parents. Increasingly involved in the family business, they occupy progressively senior positions until becoming co-creators of a concept - blending craftsmanship and high-tech; aesthetic invention and creating new forms. This continues to enchant and touch people all over the world.

Today, Missoni is one of the most respected ambassadors of Italian fashion throughout the world. The fashion House seduces customers with its play on the colours. It continues to influence contemporary lifestyles, thanks to the success of the Missoni Home line for example, which reached its peak during the recent inauguration of the first Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh.

Designer

Vittorio, Luca and Angela have been immersed in the world of fashion since their childhood.

Angela is the artistic director of the men and women's collection. Vittorio is the director of institutional affairs, and Luca is the curator and director of events.

When their parents left the company, they took the head of the family business.

They then rethink the cult models of the house to fit a more modern target. They made again fashionable the zigzags, stripes and patchwork. Colour games perfectly mastered guarantee Missoni’s success for many years.

For their parades, they choose renowned models such as Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen or recently Natasha Poly. Famous photographers also work for Missoni like Mario Testino for example.

Collection

Fairy tale creatures parade on the catwalk. The collection provides dreams, enchantment and magic.

We can note the contrast between the heartfelt pretty embroidered flowers and texture of the cuts. The pastel shades seem like a dream, a life painted in watercolour.

Coats and jackets are deconstructed; cardigans and trousers take us back to the reality of the "here and now". The silhouettes are slim and slender. The silk velvet fluid matches with oversized cozy sweaters, crepe skirts and reversible jackets.

The Missoni collection is like an enchanted forest where lace is suddenly transformed into a cloud of feathers. A world inhabited by pythons with sweet candy-coloured that becomes maxi coats.
