About the Phillipe Roucou brand

The brand Philippe Roucou was founded in 1992. Philippe Roucou follows the codes of the ready-to-wear. He creates a collection of handbags twice a year.

The collection includes an expended range from evening bags to luggage. Each piece mixes chic and originality.

In 2006 his first « capsule » collection are created. “Philippe Roucou by night” is a collection of sizzling sexy clutches and evening bags with very precious materials such as python, alligator skin…

“Philippe Roucou and men” is a capsule collection for men. Based around six models that are usually found in a gym locker room, he has given them a luxurious make-over in leathers with plenty of trimmings. The bags are in python, veal and also lamb

“Small leather” is a collection of extremely worked leather. The last line “Objets Trouvés” was created in 2009. This collection comprised of seven silk squares, is printed with anonymous Polaroid’s, images lost, found and then used to create an imaginary story. Each one reveals a daily life, both ordinary and extraordinary, from the past and the present.

Designer

Philippe Roucou studied at ESMOD fashion school and dance at Le Palace. He began working for hat and handbag designer and in 1992 he launched his own line of handbags. His collections truly show his creativity. The bag “Pheonicia” was very successful.
At the beginning of the 90s, he worked with Etienne Brunel. He realised shifted dresses with wood, mirrors…
In 1992 he realised handbags for his Japanese friend Miki Mialy. Then he designed volume bags on his own and it is a success.

Collection

The handbags are extremely feminine, referencing glamorous icon from Hollywood of the 40s and 50s.

The collection includes evening and also day models. There are flexible, dark, pleated leather and fur giving volume to the models. Varnish violet python, artisanal embroidery, shiny matte black with leopard fur; varnish blood red veal and intense black.

Philippe Roucou explains: “When I started thinking of this season it was he beginning of the crisis and it reminds me the 90s. That’s why I began with black…”
