Born in Reggio in 1946, Gianni Versace was predestinated to become a famous fashion creator. Since his childhood, he observed his mother’s work, owner of a clothing factory and was willing to follow in her footsteps.
After practicing alongside the person who would stay his model, Gianni tried to become a freelance designer, and at the age of 25, he started to make his own collection for fashion houses like Callaghan and Genny.

After his death, his sister Donatella took over the family business; Even though their styles are different, Donatella has the same taste for bright colors and fine cuts. She managed to modernize the brand with the help of television. Today, Versace is one of the best known names in the fashion world.

Sensuality and glamour has always been the hallmarks of Versace, the famous Italian house of haute couture founded by Gianni Versace in 1978, and given to his sister Donatella, after his death in 1997. Since she took over, Donatella Versace has been the artistic director of the house and vice-president of the board directors.
She has changed the Versace look which has become one of the most prominent of the twenty-first century.
Donatella Versace was born in Reggio Calabria in southern Italy where she grew up with her two older brothers. She graduated in Languages at the University of Florence and in parallel started to help her brother Gianni in his work overseeing advertising campaigns shot by famous photographers like Richard Avedon and Bruce Weber, who have so greatly contributed to the unique visual style of Versace. It started with the design of accessories and continued with the creation of a children's line: "Young Versace" in 1993. In 1994, she became head designer for Versus, a brand which targeted young fashionistas.
Since her taking over command of the artistic design of the fashion house, Donatella has won critical acclaim and numerous awards, and brought her own style to the Meduse line. She also participated in its expansion into areas that go beyond just fashion.

This collection is characterized by iconic signs: Meduse (charms) and Greca (in the embroidery and detail of the handle).
